- Fuel Mix
-
- A car needs air to
- burn fuel. In a
- gasoline driven
- car, the ratio of
- air to gas is about
- 15 to 1 under
- normal conditions.
- However, it can
- vary from 20 to 1
- under economical
- cruising, to 1 to
- 1, when starting in
- very cold weather.
-
- A car can be "force
- fed" more fuel
- mixture by adding a
- supercharger or
- turbocharger.
- Fuel is then forced
- into the cylinders
- under pressure,
- rather than being
- sucked in by the
- natural vacuum that
- is created when the
- cylinder goes down.
